What We Do

Supporters of Children addresses a crucial gap in services for Metro Denver kids in crisis. When children encounter urgent needs — whether for a specific item or service — SOC gives that direct assistance.

How We’re Unique

Unlike many nonprofits which are limited to specific programs, we are highly adaptable, providing customized support to individual children based on their distinct needs.

Select Colorado organizations identify kids we can help.

How We’re Funded

Annual fundraising events, individual donors who give directly and through family foundations, small businesses, corporations, and employee matching programs.

Every dollar donated goes directly toward helping kids.

Living in poverty as a child is the most reliable predictor of living in poverty as an adult. According to the most recently available census, approximately 11% of Colorado kids live in poverty. Supporters of Children nimbly steps up and steps in to help - this is why we’re here!

Our Mission

At Supporters of Children (SOC), our mission is to provide immediate, tailored assistance to young individuals in Colorado facing crises and challenges. Through trusted local partnerships, we identify children in need for whom we offer vital support, by purchasing essential items or services that help them overcome their immediate obstacles. Since 1995, we have collaborated with over 30 organizations to positively impact thousands of young lives across Colorado while ensuring that 100% of donations goes directly to benefit the kids.

A Recent Impact, A Child’s Thank You 🍓

These four kids’ best chance for the future is to stay together, with the eldest of them, still a teenager, having the responsibilities of a parent. They are all in school full-time and the two older siblings are in a career training program in the arts, earning some income during non-school months. They needed urgent assistance with rent, food and clothing which SOC, thanks to our donors, was able to provide.

Imagine facing walls this high and barricades this closed every day of your young life. Supporters of Children exists to scale the unimaginable. We purchase specific items and services for Colorado kids facing challenges — from historical disadvantage to health, home, and other crises. Nobody else does what we do.

Supporters of Children is a nimble, all-volunteer organization assisting youth in Metro Denver with specific items or services. By acting quickly we can fill a critical gap in a child’s support network. No other organization does what we do. While we are small, our impact is significant, and we've positively affected the lives of thousands of young people. Importantly: every dollar donated to SOC goes directly to helping kids.

Supporters of Children has been doing this for 30 years.
