Since 1995, Supporters of Children has partnered with more than 30 organizations to assist thousands of children in Colorado.

Mission

At Supporters of Children (SOC), our mission is to provide immediate, tailored assistance to young individuals in Colorado facing crises and challenges. Through trusted local partnerships, we identify children in need for whom we offer vital support, by purchasing essential items or services that help them overcome their immediate obstacles. Since 1995, we have collaborated with over 30 organizations to positively impact thousands of young lives across Colorado while ensuring that 100% of donations goes directly to benefit the kids.

Vision

We envision a Colorado where children facing hardship receive the timely and essential support they need to thrive. Through compassionate action and strategic collaborations, we aspire to build a future where every child has access to the resources necessary to succeed, overcome adversity, and reach their full potential.

History

Supporters of Children was preceded, in 1990, by an organization called One Day House, a support and daycare center for children affected by HIV/AIDS. This collaboration of professionals and donors renovated a large north Denver home with 100% donated efforts and materials. In 1995, Supporters of Children was created by the original founders of One Day to directly meet the material and service needs of youth in Colorado. SOC continues today with the support of our donors, and through the dedicated efforts of carefully selected partner organizations, who identify children in need. Our board members and other generous contributors fund overhead expenses, so that every dollar of your donation goes directly to the children served.

Under the umbrella of Denver Housing Authority, YEA is a stand-alone non-profit serving young people ages 14-24 from Denver’s marginalized communities. Their mission is to assist youth in breaking the cycle of generational poverty by gaining personal and economic stability.

Working with over 250 young people a year, YEA leads youth in reaching their education, employment, and mental wellness goals through innovative programming in culinary, arts + technology, and employment training.

Providing mentorship and mental health services for youth they serve allows YEA to identify kids in critical need. SOC will then help through direct purchase of goods and services identified by YEA staff.
