SOC honors the memory of these individuals who have inspired our organization

DALLAS PARKINS

Dallas learned the value of family, friends, and community from his parents and working in the family business. Growing up among the nature of Yellowstone Park and other Montana treasures taught him about his place in the world. He learned what is similar about folks by working beside them and his experiences in other parts of the country and the world helped him see the value of education.
Life and creative partner with Sharon Feder, Dallas was involved with Supporters of Children for ten years. In living his life so fully present in each moment, his was an unforgettable presence for everyone who knew him.

RICK BLAIR

Rick Blair was an interior designer by trade who also served at Denver International Airport in the Hospitality Ambassador Program from 1994 – 2013. His close family of friends remembers him as a person with an unendingly generous spirit, a quick wit, an easy laugh, and always with enthusiastic energy for everything and everyone he loved. Rick was absolutely dedicated to Supporters Of Children (SOC), having been in the front seat of this non-profit, since its inception over 20 years ago. It was his deepest wish that SOC continue its work, beyond his own life. That wish is carried forward by the current board of eight members who share Rick’s determination that SOC thrive in its mission on behalf of children, donating 100% of funds raised to provide goods and services to children in need in Colorado.

OLIVIA SORENSON

Olivia had the ability to make everyone who was near her feel good, simply by smiling at them. She was completely herself, astonishingly bright and funny, gracious and friendly and just 18 years old when she died. Olivia generously shared her mother, Heather Hyatt Montoya, with the thousands of people across the globe whose lives were forever changed due to the Infantile Scoliosis Outreach Program (ISOP) which she founded. As she grew older, Olivia became aware what a tremendous advocate she could be for others struggling with the consequences of serious and chronic medical conditions. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she helped families and physicians understand how to bring a future to the lives of children living with Infantile Scoliosis. Olivia stood beside her mother and helped, even though she knew the future she was helping other children to have was not an option for her.
