What would you do if you were one rent payment away from losing your home?
Supporters of Children provided critical rent assistance to a mother of four U.S. citizen children, ages 12 to 17. The family experienced multiple layers of trauma, resulting in years of instability. Through it all, this mother remained dedicated to her children’s well-being. She is the sole caregiver for her 14-year-old son, whose disabilities require frequent medical and therapy appointments across the Denver metro area. She is also actively involved in support services for her 16-year-old, who continues to heal from the effects of their past trauma.
A recent gap in finances threatened the family with eviction. RMIAN asked for our assistance. The generosity of our donors this year allowed SOC to provide rent assistance at a crucial time, preventing eviction. This
brought much-needed relief for the children and helped this family maintain the stability they had worked so hard to achieve.
“My name is R.S. I’m a single mother of seven kids; only four live with me now. The other three are older. I am very thankful for the Supporters of Children. They helped us with a part of the rent, so now we don’t have to worry about going homeless. My two younger kids are disabled. It wouldn’t be very pleasant for all five of us to go homeless for the second time. Thank you very much for your help.”
