Supporters of Children has initiated a new partnership with PorchLight, A Family Justice Center. PorchLight provides comprehensive legal, emotional, and critical supportive services for survivors of domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault, child abuse, abuse of at-risk individuals, elder abuse, and human trafficking. They walk alongside individuals and families impacted by crime, offering essential resources that help build pathways toward healing and stability.
As with all of SOC’s partner organizations, the individuals and families PorchLight supports sometimes face urgent needs that fall outside the scope of traditional services. Thanks to the generosity of donors, SOC recently helped meet one of those needs by providing emergency gift cards for food and school supplies to a family in PorchLight’s network. This support was especially critical, as the family was navigating the aftermath of domestic partner abuse and a recent assault that left them without access to funds just days before the school year began. The gift cards ensured the family’s three teenagers could start school prepared, with one less barrier to overcome during a very difficult time.
